Microsoft has announced that it will discontinue sales of Windows 10 Home and Pro on 31 January 2023. After that date, only Windows 11 will be available for purchase on Microsoft's web store.

At the same time, Microsoft will continue to provide security updates for Windows 10 until October 2025, so users who use this operating system can continue to use it safely. Any remaining stock can be purchased from retailers and OEM computer manufacturers can continue to install Windows 10.

Windows 10 was launched in October 2015 and will be 10 years old in 2025. Windows 11 is being used by an increasing number of customers and generally receives positive reviews from journalists. Windows 10 will remain available in the SoftDirect webshop for years to come, and Windows 11 is available in parallel.

Microsoft's decision means users will have to buy a new operating system if they want to take advantage of the latest technologies and security updates. The new operating system is Windows 11, with new features and improvements including a new graphical interface, improved performance and new security features.
